I actively trade in the financial markets, at least on a weekly basis. Not limited to US equities, I trade currencies and options as well.
I have played hockey nearly 15 years now. I still play club roller hockey for Ohio State.
I have a soft spot for theoretical math. Although I don't plan to pursue a PHD or do math research, I love learning new theories.
About Me
I am a 4th year Mathematics major at The Ohio State University. After graduation, I have accepted a full time job working in quantitative finance with a Fortune 500 US Financial Institution. I have a 3.6 GPA and hope to graduate somewhere within the 3.7-3.8 range. I hope to have a successful career in the financial field and possibly retire into becoming a professor.
I tutored for an introductory ordinary/partial differential equations here at Ohio State. All the students in the class had to have at least passed Calculus 3. The experience was great as it allowed me to solidify my own math skills as well as help others.
I find that students struggle with a subject (especially math), for one of two reasons. Either 1.) They have limiting beliefs such as "I will never be able to do this" or "I suck at math" or 2.) They have a fundamental misunderstanding of a very basic concept that is holding them back. Once this problem is addressed properly, most students accelerate rapidly in performance. The key is to nail down the problem area. Very rarely have I found a student unable to do actually complete the work due to a skill deficiency. Practice and developing a problem solving system are the keys to success.
