Fun Facts
I absolutely love the water; in high school I was involved in swim team, and I have worked summers as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and swim coach for the past few years. With this, I'm a big fan of the beach! A perfect summer day would involve an early morning run and swim, some afternoon beach volleyball, and dancing in the evening. In college I also picked up ballroom dancing!
About Me
I'm in my academic sophomore year at the University of Utah. I'm a declared double major in Physics and Chemistry, and a double minor in French, and Portuguese and Brazilian Studies. Thus far I've managed to maintain a 3.9 GPA and have been on the Dean's list for the past year. After finishing my undergrad I'd like to continue on to medical school.
I've never been an official, paid tutor, but helping others with homework is not foreign to me. Since elementary school it wasn't uncommon for me to help a few classmates out with understanding the given homework. To me, if you can help, why not? I'd expect the same treatment should I ever be in a need, and there have certainly been occasions where I have had to seek help. For a few more intensive classes, such as calculus and chemistry, I've helped to organize different study groups where I was able to help instruct and also receive guidance myself.
I feel that good tutoring is very interactive. The help I've always preferred to receive, be it from TA's, professors, and/or friends, and that I equally share is guidance in reasoning and understanding the concepts that create the problem/question to be solved. Plain answers are never helpful, and only serve for a very short term gain. Understanding, and developing of problem analysis and reasoning, I feel, are the most important parts and goals of learning.
