Fun Facts

I absolutely love the arts (anything from painting to art history) and also love literature and everything that has to do with the English language. This Spring semester, I will be studying abroad in Florence, Italy for four months and will be taking Ceramics and Florentine history classes! I have an avid interest in traveling and learning of other cultures.

About Me

I attend the University of Florida Honors Program and have a GPA of 3.98. I won the Anderson Scholar Award for my high GPA and am also in the National English Honors Society as well as two other national honor societies. I got a 1420 on my SAT with a 780/800 in the reading section. I am a Junior majoring in English with minors in Mass Communications and Spanish and belong to the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority. After college, I plan to attend law school.

For one year, I tutored a 7-year-old boy in math-elementary/florida/miami">elementary math and reading/writing. I regularly helped him with his homework by instilling confidence in him and by encouraging him to reach the answers on his own. With my help, he greatly improved in his writing and reading skills. I loved watching him grow and helping him meet his potential.

My miami">tutoring approach is to instill confidence in my student and to help them reach conclusions and the answers on their own--I never directly tell the student's the answers to their homework assignments. I guide them in solving problems or reading a passage correctly, but I never solve problems for them outright. Through this approach, the student learns more, gains confidence, and is able to move on to further questions without my help or guidance.
