Fun Facts

My favorite things are simple: coffee, chocolate, and lobster! Yes, I've traveled the world and I always find an excuse to sample a city's very best coffee----single-origin beans from Yirgacheffe, preferably. I've traipsed the cocoa farms of Ghana and enjoyed African chocolate from the heart of Accra. Italy offered me the best lobster ever in the marvelous, seaside city of Venice.

About Me

I am currently earning an MFA in Creative Writing & Publishing Arts at the baltimore">University of Baltimore. A recipient of the 2018 Betty Anne Turner Research and Travel Award for Poetry, I'm an internationally published poet and writer---and I'm an honers student. My work has appeared or is forthcoming in Notre Dame Review, Free State Review, The Tishman Review, and other journals and magazines.

Experience

From teaching ESL classes to undergraduates in Italy to tutoring technology students here in Baltimore---Adobe Creative Suite and HTML, my experience runs the gamut. I currently hold a PRAXIS II Certificate in English to Speakers of Other Languages, earned locally in Washington DC. This certification served me nicely as I am also a licensed substitute teacher for the District of Columbia. My technology skill sets were acquired via online courses and university training.

Approach

My approach is simple: I treat students the way I would want to be treated. For starters, I am patient and kind. I love to answer questions---as there are no dumb questions. I can tutor a subject as slowly or as swiftly as the student desires. The student's progress and comfort level matters greatly to me, so I'm open to trying new approaches. Not only do I seek to maximize a student's success but also exceed his or her goals. Plus, I'm punctual---keeping all of my appointments!
