Fun Facts
Other than science/ohio/columbus">computer science and math, I am extremely passionate about music, art, and cooking. I have two younger siblings: a sister who is 15 and a brother who is 12. I have traveled to 9 foreign countries, all of which in North/South America and Europe. I am currently planning a trip to Germany (although my German is very rusty) and Japan (before my Japanese gets rusty as well). I also am a citizen of the U.S., Canada, and Italy.
About Me
I completed my Computer Information Science Bachelor's degree at The Ohio State University with a minor in Studio Art. I attended graduate school for two years, working toward my Ph.D. in science/ohio/columbus">Computer Science with a focus on Computer Vision. Currently, I have a few students I am tutoring while I work as an independent artist.
Experience
For five semesters at The Ohio State University, I worked as an undergraduate grader. My responsibilities included grading homework, labs, and quizzes. I also held office hours to assist with any problems, held review sessions for upcoming midterms, and created review sheets that were similar in format to those on the midterms. My senior year of high school, I also worked as a tutor for a school year in string bass for a fourth grader.
Approach
Working with many struggling students, I learned that gentle encouragement and sincere belief students can learn the material can be the most important response to a student. I also believe practice is essential to learning any process of problem-solving, so practice sheets are necessary. I arrange my practice sheets to begin with simple, basic concepts and progress to challenging problems. This method tends to work well with all students and they get to know the results immediately.

Calculus I Tutoring
In high school, I took AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC, achieving an A in both and a 5 on both AP tests. I also was ranked in the top four grades in both classes every semester. I also have experience helping my mathematically challenged friends with their Calculus and Physics homework.
College Algebra Tutoring
I took Algebra I and II with As all semesters. Additionally, I was a part of the Midwest Academic Talent Search, allowing me to study Algebra I and II at Northwestern University for two summers. Algebra concepts were also essential knowledge to compete in Math Club.
Computer Engineering Tutoring
I majored in Computer Information Science. I have taken Java, Software I & II, Foundations I & II, Systems I & II, Databases, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering I, Professional Software, Graphics, Artificial Intelligence I & II, Principles of Programming Languages, and Foundations of Higher Mathematics with As and Bs. In graduate school, I also completed Algorithms, Systems, Computer Vision, and Neural Networks with As. I was an undergraduate grader for five semesters for the Foundations I class.
Computer Programming Tutoring
I majored in Computer Information Science. I have taken Java, Software I & II, Foundations I & II, Systems I & II, Databases, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering I, Professional Software, Graphics, Artificial Intelligence I & II, Principles of Programming Languages, and Foundations of Higher Mathematics with As and Bs. Pre Calculus Tutoring
I was a part of the Midwest Academic Talent Search, allowing me to study Pre Calculus at Northwestern University for a summer. Since I felt I completely understood the concepts, I tested out of Pre Calculus and continued onto AP Calculus AB and BC. During my senior year of high school, I helped a Pre Calculus student with her homework and test preparation.
Algebra Tutoring
I took Algebra I with As all semesters. Additionally, I was a part of the Midwest Academic Talent Search, allowing me to study Algebra I at Northwestern University for a summer. Algebra concepts were also essential knowledge to compete in Math Club.

Math Tutoring
In High School, I always achieved As in Math. Additionally, I was a part of the Midwest Academic Talent Search, allowing me to study Algebra I and II, Geometry, and Pre Calculus at Northwestern University for four summers. The concepts I learned in my classes helped me be competitive in Math Club.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
My performance in Pre Algebra and the SAT (in middle school) allowed me to be a part of the Midwest Academic Talent Search for four summers. Pre Algebra concepts are an essential foundation for understanding higher mathematical ideas and being able to manipulate equations as needed.
Trigonometry Tutoring
I took Algebra II (which included Trigonometry) with As all semesters. Additionally, I was a part of the Midwest Academic Talent Search, allowing me to study Algebra II at Northwestern University for a summer. Algebra concepts were also essential knowledge to compete in Math Club.
Java Tutoring
The language used in most introductory CS courses at OSU is Java. As an undergraduate grader, I had to help those who had a variety of experiences with the language. Currently, I also have a student who I am teaching Java with no prior programming experience.
Geometry Tutoring
I took Geometry with As all semesters. Additionally, I was a part of the Midwest Academic Talent Search, allowing me to study Geometry at Northwestern University for a summer. My love for the proofs in Geometry initially inspired me to become a Theoretical Mathematics major at OSU. I also have a lot of experience writing proofs from Foundations I and II, Foundations of Higher Mathematics, and Algorithms in graduate school.
