I am 21 years old and I love to read, write and perform poetry. I also love theatre and my favorite color is red.
About Me
I am a senior at Wayne State University majoring in English and African American Studies. My focus area is post-bellum literature and I love all works dealing with the Black experience and major historical periods.
Experience
I currently work as Corps Member with AmeriCorps for City Year Detroit where I am tasked with helping academically deficient students gain skills to be on par with expectations for their grade level. I have also worked as an Educational Coach for a private family. My duties for design supplemental summer learning for children aged 3 and 9 years old.
Approach
I first assess the students strengths and weakness using a mixture of interactive methods, games, and traditional coursework. Once the focus areas (most deficient or misunderstand) areas are identified, an individualized plan is developed for the student and tailored to their learning style.
