About Me

My name is Isaac Barba. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (K-8) from the University of New Mexico with a focus in Math and Science.

Experience

I have several years of experience working one-on-one with struggling students. I also have experience working with pre-k and preschool children teaching reading and the basics of phonics. I spent two years as a student teacher in a third-grade class and have had several tutoring jobs since. I also worked for a preschool for a period of time where I helped students learn to write, work on phonics skills and practice their counting and basic math skills.

Approach

I find that working one-on-one with struggling students a very rewarding experience because it is often very rare that teachers get the time to work with individual students. My approach to tutoring is to find the individual needs of each student and work with their strengths to keep them engaged and motivated to learn more. Every student is different and I enjoy finding creative ways to keep students interested in their learning. I find that students enjoy the process as well.
