Fun Facts
I love photography, running, learning new things, and ultimately helping people succeed so they can be the best they can be.
About Me
I am a research assistant at Yale University. My field is in Development Economics and I am currently involved in large scale projects taking place in Bangladesh and Sub-Saharan Africa. I have a master's degree in International and Development Economics from the University of San Francisco, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Experience
As a grad student I worked as a teaching assistant for a grad-level Development Economics course, as well as an instructor for a week-long course learning a statistical software package. As a TA I held weekly office hours, and break-out sessions, and frequently met with students struggling with the material, and the pace of grad school. It was rewarding, especially after seeing the student's succeed in the class. It taught me that tutoring is more about teaching material, but also motivational.
Approach
Patience, and fundamentals are key to student's success. My approach is to boil complex ideas into building blocks that first give the student the intuition and then build from there. My approach is establishing an environment of patience and trust so the student feels comfortable with challenging problems that may take time to solve. I try to make the material applicable to the real world as I've found that it greatly helps students grasp seemingly abstract concepts.
