Fun Facts

I am a musician as well as an athlete. I have been doing both for the majority of my life, and I am highly dedicated to both commitments. I have been playing the saxophone for almost 9 years, and I am proficient in jazz. I have played numerous sports throughout my life, but I continue to maintain a high level of activity in my life.

About Me

I am a freshman at Emory University studying Math and Pre Med. I currently have no college qualifications, but I am enrolled in high level math courses, as well as biology and chemistry. I want to apply to medical school in the future and become a Neurosurgeon.

Experience

I have two years of tutoring the saxophone. I taught three students from ages 12-18, and improved their proficiency in the saxophone and music in general. I have some tutoring experience, and have tutored people from my high school in topics they were having difficulty understanding. I have also tutored one girl in 7th mathematics consistently.

Approach

I have always had an easy time understanding the material I have been presented with, and had no difficulty grasping the concepts. Unlike some kids in a similar position as me, I have always been able to explain my thinking to help peers and students understand my methods in learning the material. I am prepared to try many different techniques on students if I see that one technique is not properly reaching the child.

Pre Calculus Tutoring

I took honors Pre Calculus my sophomore year of high school and excelled in the course. I have also advanced on to high level calculus.

Algebra Tutoring

I took high school Algebra in 7th grade, and received a very high A. I continued on to take higher levels of algebra

Algebra II Tutoring

I took Algebra II in 10th grade, and received a high A. I did well in the class and was permitted to take honors pre calculus the next year.

Biology Tutoring

I took AP Biology in 10th grade and received the highest score on the final exam. I am also currently enrolled in entry level biology in college to fulfill pre med requirements.

I took Honors Chemistry in my junior year of high school, and excelled in the course. I took the AP test for Chemistry and received a 4. I am currently enrolled in an entry level chemistry class to fulfill my Pre Med requirements.

Trigonometry has been incorporated into all of my math classes since geometry. More specifically it has been an integral part in my classes: Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus I.

I have been completing noticeable amounts of homework since sixth grade. I am very efficient with my time and know many techniques to improve homework habits.

I received a 35 on my ACT math section, although in practice I regularly scored a 36.

General Music Tutoring

I have been playing music since the age of 5, but I have been playing my primary instrument, the saxophone, since the age of 9. I am proficient in basic music theory and quite literate in music vocabulary.

Saxophone Tutoring

I have been playing saxophone since the age of 9, and have consistently been first chair in most ensembles I have played in. In sixth grade, I began playing jazz and broadening my saxophone abilities. I was voted for the Louis Armstrong National Jazz Award three years in a row at my high school, and I have just been accepted into the Emory Jazz Band as a freshman.
