Fun Facts
One fun fact about me is how many places I have traveled to. I'm originally from Egypt and used to live 20 minutes away from the Pyramids. I have been to Sweden, Ethiopia, India, and many other places! I love to cook and hang out with friends, and of course visit new places! Other than that, I love being outdoors and hiking. In my free time, I enjoy volunteering with local nonprofits around Atlanta.
About Me
I am currently a senior undergrad student at Georgia State University. My major is Public Policy with a concentration in Nonprofit Leadership. My minor is also Psychology. My GPA is 3.86 and I currently lead a Bible Study along with holding Community Service Chair for the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance where I plan three community service events for our 80+ members aiming to be nonprofit leaders in our community. Upon graduation in May 2014, I plan on taking a year break before pursing a Masters.
I used to atlanta">tutor under the Math Doctor. I tutored four Middle School girls math individually and one Elementary School girl math. It was a great experience as I learned how to motivate young aged girls and to help them achieve their highest potential. The experience not only grew the girls academically, it grew me personally, professionally, and educationally as well. I learned how important communication skills are, and to be patient in order to see lasting impacts.
My atlanta">tutoring approach includes clearly assessing where the student stands. I must know their strengths and weaknesses before any attempted atlanta">tutoring. Through such, I begin to also understand how they work in order to effectively teach them with a method that they understand (visual, listening, written...etc.) I highly believe in encouraging right behavior and reinforcing it. In times where a student may not be able to comprehend a subject, I tend to simplify it first and then have them explain it to me. I believe the best way to learn a subject is through teaching it!
