Fun Facts
I'm from the Bay Area, CA but I've lived in Taiwan ever since my dad moved back to care for my grandparents. That's 14 years in Taiwan! I am the youngest of four – three older sisters. Some of my hobbies include volleyball, video games, cooking, and casual coding projects.

I am a first-year science/texas/san-antonio">computer science student at Trinity University in San Antonio. I'm hoping to go into software development or data analytics when I graduate college.
I first got into science/texas/san-antonio">computer science because of the movie The Incredibles. The robots fascinated the 6-year-old me!
Experience
I went to a local Taiwanese school until 6th grade (for reference, AP Chinese is about second to third grade level). I have good foundations in the language and know how students can best learn the material. I've been a math peer tutor in middle school. I've also done some community service working with ESL and local Taiwanese students teaching English. In terms of test scores: AP Biology: 5, AP Calculus AB: 4, AP Chinese: 5, SAT Math: 760, SAT Math I: 800, SAT Math II: 710, SAT Chinese: 800.
Approach
The transition from local Taiwanese school to an American middle school was tough for me. I was put in ESL for two semesters and met the most encouraging teacher I've ever met. She influenced my tutoring style a lot. As a tutor, I like to work through the problems with students. I think it's imperative that students understand the thought process behind the problems they encounter. It's a key step in helping students build solid study skills from the ground up!

Computer Science
Chinese Tutoring
I have lived in Taiwan since I was 4 years old. I've also attended Taiwanese local school up till 6th grade and continued studying Chinese on the side. I am currently tutoring two of my college friends who are minoring in Chinese.
Computer Science Tutoring
I can tutor students taking introductory Java courses. I have taken AP computer science in high school and I'm currently studying computer science using the Scala language in college.
ESL Tutoring
I've been an ESL student at the start of middle school. I know what works and what doesn't when it comes to learning a new language. I am also fluent in Chinese/Mandarin, which can help if the student's native tongue is Mandarin.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
I took pre-algebra in 6th grade and got an A, which is one year ahead of the normal curriculum. I've also worked as a peer tutor in middle school for extra credit. In addition, I tested out of Calculus 1 and I'm taking Calculus II as a freshman in college.
SAT Math Tutoring
I scored a 760 on the SAT math section, 800 on the SAT math I subject test, and 710 on the SAT math II subject test. I have the technical knowledge of what is on each test and how to study for it. I've also attended an SAT prep school so I know what works well for SAT and what doesn't. In addition, I tested out of Calculus 1 and I'm taking Calculus II as a freshman in college.

I took algebra in 7th grade and got an A, which is one year ahead of the normal curriculum. I've also worked as a peer tutor in middle school for extra credit. In addition, I tested out of Calculus 1 and I'm taking Calculus II as a freshman in college.
Biology Tutoring
I studied AP biology in high school and graduated the course with an A. I got a 4 on the AP biology exam and am familiar with levels of biology up to at least the high school level.
English Tutoring
I've also written a poem that was featured in my high school newspaper. As for test scores, I scored a 710 on the English section for the SAT and have gotten A's in English throughout middle school and most of high school.
Middle School Math Tutoring
I was 1 year ahead of the common curriculum for math since the Taiwanese curriculum is more fast-paced. I've received A's in all my middle school math courses and can tutor for all levels of math. In addition, I got a 4 on my AP calculus AB test and I'm taking calculus II as a freshman in college.
Science Tutoring
I have taken Introduction to Biology, AP Biology (4 on the AP exam), chemistry, and physics in high school. I have received an A in all of these classes except for chemistry.

I have worked with elementary students with their English and math assignments when I boarded with a teacher in high school. I have experience in breaking down the problems into smaller chunks for easier learning, which I think can greatly benefit students.
