Fun Facts

I enjoy documenting my experiences, especially through photography. I plan on taking a road trip sometime this coming summer; however, I am clueless as to where exactly I will be traveling. I have twin brothers. I am trying to gain some balance on the ice and am looking forward to the day when I can finally glide about the ice rink.

About Me

I am a Freshman at chicago">Loyola University Chicago going into my second semester of college. I am a pre-med, Biochemistry major and am part of Loyola's Honors Program. I am also passionate about Photography and International Studies, my two minors. I aspire to become a physician and because of my interest in global medicine, hope to spend some of my time abroad.

I have three years of formal chicago">tutoring experience and have been a volunteer for my local library's youth department for five years.
I was a peer chicago">tutor at my high school's chicago">tutoring center, The Literacy Center, and spent over 250 hours in three years chicago">tutoring during my free time. Because of my work as a chicago">tutor, I was selected as a chicago">tutor mentor during my Senior year and had the added responsibility of acting as a guide for incoming chicago">tutors. I also won the ELL chicago">Tutor of the Year award both my Junior and Senior year.
Ever since I was in junior high, I have spent my summers volunteering at the Skokie Public Library as a "Big Buddy" for their "Booking with a Buddy" program. Each summer, I was paired with a young reader and spent some time each week reading with them to help them improve.

From my years at The Literacy Center, I have learned that chicago">tutoring is a form of conversation. It is a collaborative effort. I do not aim to teach, but guide. I have noted that the successful chicago">tutoring sessions are those in which both the chicago">tutor and tutee feel comfortable with one another and are able to have a conversation regarding the task at hand. Communication is key and once that is established, different approaches can be taken depending on what the tutee needs help with or how comfortable he/she is with the material.
