Fun Facts
I have played soccer all my life. I was a member of the Stevenson University Women's Soccer team for two years before I transferred to the maryland">University of Maryland. My record for juggling a soccer ball is 1,076. I come from a very large family, my grandma is one of twenty children. I have three dogs that I absolutely love- two Goldendoodles and a Shih Tzu.
About Me
I am a senior History and Communications major at the maryland">University of Maryland. I currently have a 3.934 cumulative GPA. I have been on the Dean's List every semester of my college career! I am the Ten Woman Plan points chair for my sorority. I have just recently been accepted to Teach for America. Teach for America is a non-profit organization dedicated to combating inequality in education. After graduation, I will be moving to Alabama as a new member of the TFA-Alabama corp.
Experience
For the past year, I have been serving as a mentor for America Reads. America Reads is a tutoring program funded by the federal government. America Reads trains college students to tutor first and second grade students who are having trouble reading. The goal of the program is to help students not only improve their reading level, but also gain confidence. Working with these students and helping them succeed in school has been the most rewarding experience of my college career.
Approach
My time spent serving as an America Reads mentor has taught me the importance of flexibility in lesson planning. Every student is different and has unique needs. I have worked with all types of students during my time as an AR mentor- audio, visual, kinesthetic. It is so important to find techniques that work for your students so you can not only help them learn, but also have fun. Having a positive attitude and encouraging your students also has a monumental, positive impact.

History and Communication
Communication Tutoring
I will be earning a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies in May 2019. I have taken a wide array of communication classes and the lowest grade I have received in a class was a B+.
History Tutoring
I will be earning a bachelor's degree in History in May 2019. My concentration is American history. I have taken a wide array of history classes that focus primarily on American history, but I also have experience in British and Latin American history. The lowest grade I have received in a history class is an A-.
AP History Tutoring
I will be receiving a history degree in May 2019. In high school, I took both AP World History and AP United States History. I received a 4 on both exams.
Writing Tutoring
I have taken several writing courses throughout my college career as part of my general education requirement. I received A's in all my writing intensive classes. My writing ability is hard to quantify, however, I have always prided myself on being an exceptionally strong writer. My professors can attest to this. I have several tips and tricks on how to write an exceptional paper, even if you are not a good writer.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I work as an America Reads mentor and have ample experience in helping students to improve their reading comprehension skills.
Social Studies Tutoring
I will be obtaining a degree in History in May 2019. I have ample knowledge in American history and other social studies related fields. The lowest grade I have received in a history course in college is an A-.
English Tutoring
I have taken several English courses over the course of my college career that focused on both literature analysis and writing skills. I received A's in all of these classes.
Government Tutoring
I took AP Government in high school and received a 5 on the exam.
Homework Coach Tutoring
As a college student and former college athlete, I have several tips on how to stay organized and on how to improve time management skills.
Spanish I Tutoring
I took Spanish 1-4 in high school. I also took intermediate Spanish over this past winter break and received an A in the class.
Study Skills Tutoring
I understand that studying for any sort of exam or test can be extremely stressful. My approach to studying follows the "study smarter, not harder" motto. I can help students identify what material they need to focus on and can help them maximize the amount of knowledge they retain in a short amount of time.
Elementary Math Tutoring
While I am not a math major, I am confident that I can help students strengthen their skills in elementary math. I also have experience tutoring elementary students and working with kids.
