I am an artist and enjoy painting, pottery, and creating sculptures out of reclaimed materials. I have always had a love of reading and enjoy the outdoors.
About Me
I am completing my Bachelor's Degree in Education with special emphasis on education/texas/san-antonio">special education and teaching English to second language learners. I have worked as a substitute teacher as well as a tutor. After graduation, I plan to pursue a Master's Degree in studio art.
Experience
I worked as a substitute teacher in Florida for three years. During that time, I also tutored several students in math, English, and test taking strategies. While in pursuit of my Bachelor's Degree, I completed field experience at a pre-k level. I also have a child with special needs who requires education/texas/san-antonio">special education services.
Approach
I struggled with math in middle and high school, but was fortunate to have a college math instructor who connected to math on a unique level. I have made A's in math classes since that time, and have found there is more than one way to approach mathematics. I also have a love of science and have taken far more science classes than my degree required. I have a passion for philosophy, reading, and creative writing. I frequently receive positive feedback from professors on my writing skills.

Education
Conversational Spanish Tutoring
I took Spanish 1 and 2 in high school, as well as Spanish 2 and 3 in college. I made A's in all of my Spanish classes. I also worked in a restaurant for six years, where I spoke Spanish every day with coworkers.
Algebra Tutoring
I have a great understanding of Algebraic concepts and experience tutoring math at a high school level. One of the students I tutored had a lot of difficulty before we worked together. During my time with him, he increased his grade from a "D" to a "B" in one grading period.

I have a great deal of experience in writing in APA format. I have taken English 1 and 2 at a college level, as well as several college courses in creative writing and poetry writing. I frequently receive feedback from my professors on my grammar and writing skills.
Geometry Tutoring
I have experience tutoring Geometry at a high school level. One of the students I tutored had a lot of difficulty before we worked together. During my time with him, he increased his grade from a "D" to a "B" in one grading period. Geometry was one of the largest areas he needed to gain skills in.
Homework Coach Tutoring
My experience in college has taught me a great deal about organization and task completion. These are great skills to offer a student in relation to being a homework coach. I have worked as a tutor and substitute teacher and am currently completing my BA in education.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
I have taken mathematics at a college level and received A's in each class. Currently I am completing my BA in education. I have also worked as a tutor and substitute teacher in math.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I have a passion for reading and have great reading comprehension. My background in tutoring and substitute teaching, as well as my experience as an education major, have given me the ability to relate comprehension to students in a way that is meaningful to them.
Science Tutoring
I have a great love of Science and have taken several classes at a college level which include: Geology, Biology, Astronomy, Oceanography, and Environmental Science. I am completing my BA in education and have also worked as a tutor and substitute teacher.

Social Studies Tutoring
I am currently completing my Bachelor's Degree in education. Flash cards and relating content to a student's personal experience are great ways to help a child in their understanding of Social Studies.
Arts Tutoring
I have taken 2D and 3D design at a college level, as well as painting classes. I completed several pottery classes and worked as an aid in the pottery lab for a semester.
