Fun Facts
I come from a very large family! My mom is 1 of 14 kids so I have over 40 first cousins! I love to travel and have been to 49 of the 50 states. I'm originally from the Chicago area and just recently moved to Austin a little over a month ago!
About Me
I am a certified education/texas/austin">special education teacher and reading specialist. I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign for my Bachelor's degree and Olivet Nazarene University for my Master's degree.
Experience
For the past 5 years I have been a education/texas/austin">special education teacher in Illinois. I worked with 12 students with special needs ages K-6 in the areas of reading, math, science, social studies, and writing. While I loved my time teaching, I felt like I wasn't getting enough 1 on 1 time with my students to really teach them the skills they needed. Since moving to Texas, I have started tutoring and nannying!
Approach
My overall goal is to motivate students and make learning fun! I like to find out a student's learning style and cater my teaching to fit their needs.

I have taught math to students grades K-6. I have specific experience tutoring in number sense, addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, place value, multiplication, and division. I am special education certified to teach all subjects K-age 22.
Elementary Math Tutoring
I have taught math to students grades K-6. I have specific experience tutoring in number sense, addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, place value, multiplication, and division. I am special education certified to teach all subjects K-age 22.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I have taught reading to students in grades K-6. I also have a reading specialist degree. I have experience tutoring students in phonics, phonemic awareness, comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary.
Science Tutoring
I have taught science to students grades K-3. I have specific experience tutoring in physical science and earth science. I have knowledge in other areas as well I just haven't tutored in those areas.
Writing Tutoring
I have taught writing to students grades K-6. I have specific experience tutoring in letter formation, spelling, forming sentences, and punctuation. I have used the Handwriting without Tears and Words their Way curriculums.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I have helped students with reading, math, writing, and science homework. I have experience in grades K-6. I specialize in helping students with reading and math homework.
Study Skills Tutoring
I have experience teaching study skills for spelling, reading, math, science, and social studies. I have experience with grades K-6. I also have experience with ACT prep as well.
