Fun Facts

I am originally from Lafayette, LA and have spent most of my life in the Acadiana and New Orleans area. I've lived in San Antonio for five and a half years now and enjoy spending time in the downtown area. I am also interested in reading --- I just finished "Double Entry: How the Merchants of Venice Created Modern Finance" and am in the middle of "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham.

About Me

I am originally from Lafayette, LA and moved to San Antonio, TX five and a half years ago. During my time in Louisiana, I worked in the Gulf of Mexico as an ordinary seaman and later went to community college for General Business. After moving to San Antonio, I quickly began work as a bank teller and received another Associates degree in Banking and Financial Services. I have recently finished my Bachelors in Accounting at Texas A&M - San Antonio, where I was also a tutor.

I have one year of tutoring experience at Texas A&M - San Antonio from the beginning of 2013 to December 2013. In that time, I tutored accounting, finance, business statistics, quantitative methods of business, and supply chain management. In that time I was able to work with the professors to understand their lesson plans and schedule students for appointments.

Since each student is different, they each have their own way of learning. I find it helps to understand what interests he/she has and add that into the tutoring sessions. In the past, I've helped a student who owned a recording studio understand free cash flows by describing how it's very similar to signing a musician and expecting to make sales off his/her records. I prefer giving a lot of context to the problems I tutor. Since most problems usually beg the question: "When am I going to need this in real life?", I try to find context for most problems.

Experience

During my time as a student, I tutored accounting and finance at my university.

I currently have 6+ years experience in the financial industry auditing accounting and financial operations. During that time, I obtained my Series 7 and Series 63 licenses in order to audit investment operations.

Approach

I like to approach each individual based on his/her background and learning style. I believe each person learns differently and given the right tools can learn accounting and finance.
