About Me
I'm a senior English major at the University of Texas at San Antonio. After I graduate, I hope to attend law school somewhere in Texas. My ultimate goal is to come back to San Antonio to practice law.
Experience
I was first hired as a 6th and 7th-grade math tutor at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year. I have plenty of experience working with small groups of children and also working one-on-one. Although that is the only formal experience I have, I also have informal experience in tutoring my peers and friends with writing and Spanish.
Approach
I've always struggled with science courses, and when I would attend tutoring and study sessions with others who were successful in the science courses I was taking, I was always met with smiling faces and an immense help. As a tutor, I try to approach all of my students in the same way: with a smiling face and with all the help I can provide. I think we are all responsible for helping each other where we can.

Political Science Tutoring
I took both of my Political Science courses, American Politics and Texas Politics, my Freshman year of college and passed both with an A. I found myself leading many study groups and helping my classmates by answering questions they were too intimidated to ask in a class with 200+ people. I became so interested in the subject that I took four legal courses over the summer my Junior year and made straight A's.
Sociology Tutoring
I took Sociology my Sophomore year of college and passed with an A+. I found myself leading many study groups and helping my classmates by answering questions they were too intimidated to ask in a class with 200+ people.
Spanish I Tutoring
In high school, I tested out of Spanish I and jumped straight into Spanish II Pre-AP and took Spanish III AP the following year. I took the Spanish AP exam my senior year and passed with a 5! I'm a native Spanish speaker, so I can help students in both speaking and writing in Spanish.

Writing Tutoring
I am currently in my last year of English courses, so I've tried a little bit of every writing style! I have experience in research writing, news writing, legal writing, professional writing, and grant writing. I also have a lot of experience editing through the Paisano, UTSA's Independent Student Newspaper. I am also currently the grant writer for a nonprofit. I have finished all of my English courses with grades over A-'s.
Middle School Math Tutoring
I'm currently employed at a middle school where I teach 6th-grade math and have previously taught 7th-grade math as well. I help students who are falling behind in class become better prepared through outside-of-class tutoring. Because most of the students that I tutor have fallen extremely behind, I have to teach them fundamental concepts from Elementary school.
