Fun Facts
My passion for economics, is followed by my love for the outdoors. Besides studying, you can find me skiing, biking, and backpacking. I have enjoyed several years working as a horticulturalist and naturalist at Red Butte Gardens. Currently I am working to pursue statistics and economics, knows as econometric theory. I am happy to share my knowledge and excitement for all things quantitative.
About Me
I recently graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Economics. I have earned the dean’s list for three concurrent semesters, and graduated with a major GPA of 3.588. I plan to return to school in the fall for a Masters of Statistics, with a specialization in Econometrics.I will research Bayesian and frequentist econometric methodologies, applying them to model the empirical reality of economic behavior within social contexts. Or simply put, I hope to make the empirics of econometrics accessible for all.
I enjoyed the opportunity to work with an afterschool tutoring program while I was in high school, helping local elementary school kids with subjects and homework, I found math to be among the most satisfying subjects to teach. In addition I have expanded my interpersonal and teaching skills throughout college with numerous class presentations, group projects, and professional experience. I have been fortunate to work with several excellent tutors myself, whose successful teaching styles have rubbed off into my own study habits.
Throughout my younger years I had always found that mathematics came easily to me, however towards the end of middle school where our math program diverged into a more advanced track, The concepts grew harder at an exponential rate, and it was daunting. I was fortunate to meet a tutor who was able to simplify a lot of the math into smaller steps that truly reflect the concept of the whole. With each satisfying and smaller step of insight and accomplishment working up to the whole, as I worked through these step problems I would suddenly realize that these small steps of intuition had brought me to the right answer of the mathematical concept I has been just been struggling to grasp. It made, and continues to make math un-daunting, and while I wont say fun, it certainly made it approachable
