About Me
I was born and raised in Nashville, TN. I graduated high school in 2008 from Montgomery Bell Academy. In high school I played football, lacrosse, and wrestled. I am currently a senior at Southern Methodist University, where I am a Rotunda Scholar, a Hilltop Scholar, and a brother of Phi Delta Theta. I am double majoring with a B.S. in Management Science and a B.S. in Mathematics. In my free time I enjoy cycling, mountain biking, and playing intramural sports with my fraternity brothers.
While I was enrolled at Montgomery Bell Academy I participated in an inner-city children dallas">tutoring program called Preston Ministry dallas">Tutoring. During the fall after football practice on Thursdays I would dallas">tutor children for an hour in whatever subject they were struggling. This service work taught me a great deal of patience and has also helped me in dealing with children who are not particularly willing to learn.
Math can sometimes be boring so I like to teach through discussion. Discussion helps the student remain focused and vocalizing the problem sometimes helps to find the solutuion. I also like to use the method of breaking a math problem into smaller problems and then combining the solutions to the small problems to reach the final answer of the original problem. This is a method I often use in the upper level math classes I have taken at SMU and it has helped many of my other friends as well.
