Fun Facts

To start, I tend to work on the creative side. A little fact about myself is that I am left-handed, so I occasionally have the smear of pen on my hands as part of my attire. I enjoy scrap-booking, but my biggest interest is becoming a nurse. I love working in healthcare and educating patients. I also was the president of HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America).

About Me

Hello, My name is Alisha Rader and I am currently a freshman at Marian University. I am a nursing major with a possible minor of Spanish. My future plans are getting accepted into the nursing program this fall. My higher goal is to graduate and get placed in a hospital preferably in Bloomington within six months of graduation. As for leadership experience, I have attended many seminars recently as the president of HOSA( as stated previously). Currently I am working with other peers to obtain a collegiate chapter for HOSA.

I have gained experience as a indianapolis">tutor at my high school. For three years I was a peer indianapolis">tutor and have worked with students with disabilities and also those with learning disabilities. Mental ages have varied from 18 months to 22 years. With this I have worked on life skills, homework, and gaining trust from my students. This has given me a great range of subjects and obstacles to work with the student. Given this, I have had a higher knowledge of becoming a indianapolis">tutor.

As a indianapolis">tutor, I try to engage my students as much as possible. I avoid negative comments and enforce positive experiences. My goal is to have the student actually learn the material, not memorize it. My approach involves having a little fun with work. I have used various forms for learning including flash cards, small games, computers, etc. My end goal for each student is to improve their knowledge, as I realize with working with various students that all learn at different times and at different levels.
