Fun Facts

I am a senior physics major at Hampton University. I have been on the dean’s list all four years. As a supplement to my academic studies, I am a student researcher at the Hampton University Cancer Research Center. For 2 years now I have been a part of breast cancer research primarily focused on minority health disparities. Once I complete my undergraduate studies, I intend on continuing my education in a medical physics graduate program.

About Me

One of my favorite past time activities is reading. I’ve read over 300 books so far! I found the joy of reading my 6th-grade year and haven’t been able to put down a book since then. Historical fiction is by far my favorite. It gives me the chance to escape into an unknown world and dive deep into the cultures of the past. You can catch me at the library on any given weekend for great book fun!

Experience

As the president of the Hampton University Society of Physics Students Organization, I’ve had the opportunity to tutor both high school and college students in math and science for three years. I recognize the struggle many students have when trying to comprehend analytical topics. I look forward to every opportunity I have to help.

Approach

I like to approach every student that I work with as an individual. I’ve had experienced difficulty focusing in a large classroom setting during my middle and high school years. So I understand the need for some to have one on one learning sessions. This allows people to have the proper learning environment to focus and understand the task at hand. During each session, I ask my students to explain to me the material they are learning before we being so that I understand their comprehension level
