About Me
I am a Sophomore at the University of Utah majoring in Operations management. I currently have a 3.2 GPA and a 3.55 GPA in my major at the business school. I have been on the deans list the past two semesters and look to keep that streak going! I am looking to earn a bachelors degree in Operations and move back to Washington to work for either Microsoft or Boeing.
I have always been fairly gifted academically and have always helped out other students in my classes who were struggling in those areas. I have always enjoyed helping people and it is a personal belief of mine that everyone has different strengths which they should use to help people who are not as strong in those areas. During my Senior year of High School my Chemistry teacher sat me next to two of the students in our class for the entire year, because they were struggling in her class and she knew that I would help teach them any material that they needed help with.
The biggest thing that I stress with tutoring is confidence. Many students are smart enough to excel in their classes but after failing a few tests they lose confidence and truly believe that they will fail which is the first step that you have to get over. With math and science many students only try and memorize equations and when to use them. Instead, I try to teach people what the equation actually means and why you use it in a particular equation. This leaves less to chance on tests because the student will actually understand the problem instead of having to just regurgitate information. This strategy is how I taught information to myself in high school, which is why I generally tested very well.
