About Me
I am a junior at Rutgers Business School double majoring in accounting and finance. I hope to graduate top of my class and currently my GPA is 3.83. I have received the Dean's LIst award for every semester at Rutgers University. Once I graduate I plan on acquiring CPA license and work in public accounting.
Last semester I worked at Rutgers Learning Center where I tutored undergraduate students in accounting and finance classes such as financial accounting, finance and financial econometrics. I assisted students in understanding complex concepts using easy to understand terms individually and in groups. I also created presentation of materials in a manner that allowed for full understanding of intended audience. As a result oriented person, I tracked students’ performance in the class throughout the semester and provided further assistance for improvement.
I believe that the manner in which material is presented to the student has the largest impact on the understanding of that material by the student. In high school I realized that I was a visual learner and one graph helped me understand a problem better than reading three pages of text. I apply this technique when tutoring other students. First, I find out which style of learning best suits the student. Once that is determined I explain the problem or concept using that technique and then assign practice problems I created or from the textbook. I also use positive reinforcement to boost students' confidence which pushed them to try harder.
