Fun Facts
I have played drums since I was in fifth grade. In high school and college I played in a variety of bands. One of my favorite things is to perform live; there's just nothing like it!
About Me
I was born and raised in St. Louis. I attended Tulane University, where I majored in French and English and spent my junior year at La Sorbonne in Paris. After college, I moved to New York and taught high school English and French for three years before moving to Charlotte. I have also taken students on trips to Montreal and India in my capacity as International Travel Coordinator.
While in New York, I worked in a variety of charlotte">tutoring situations. I had a consistent and successful after-school charlotte">tutoring program for my French and English classes. In addition, I worked with an organization that sought to improve the scores of middle school students on New York's important state math and English tests.
When charlotte">tutoring, I take into consideration the learning style of my students and try to accommodate those strengths. I employ a variety of methods and media to teach and reinforce material. When something doesn't work, I always try a new approach until I find the one that works for my students. It is my firm belief that students should be guided towards answers rather than given them. I am passionate about what I teach, and I always try to impart that passion to my students.
