About Me
As a student at The University of Texas at Austin, I am currently enrolled in the Chemical Engineering Honors Program with a GPA of 3.98. Although this is my first year in college, I have sophomore standing due to the credits I received from scoring 5s on the AP English Language, English Literature, Calculus AB, Chemistry, European History, US History, World History, US Government, Macroeconomics, and German Language exams. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I hope to eventually participate in an MBA program.
Beginning around freshman year of high school, my first experiences with austin">tutoring were with my younger sister, as I regularly mentored her in classes I had taken previously. After becoming President of my school’s Model United Nations chapter during my junior year, I also lead various sessions for new members meant to augment their political knowledge, improve essay writing, and teach essential research skills. In college, I now participate in weekly study tables where participants austin">tutor other members in subjects they are struggling with.
In any subject, be it Chemistry or Government, I believe that students can only gain a deep understanding of a topic through independent, determined thinking. Rather than directly revealing any answers, I always strive to allow students to follow their own though process, providing hints while still allowing them to make mistakes. Even if their initial answer may be incorrect, I have found that then going back and analyzing their errors is much more helpful to truly understanding the topic than an outright explanation would ever be. Depending on what type of learner the student is, I have also found additional study methods such as flashcards, diagrams, and reading material out loud to be very helpful.
