I don't have one passion, I have many, and those multiple passions are reflected in my life, my career(s), my travel and my professional endeavors. I have a passion for design, particularly furniture and interiors, as well as the history of architecture and design, and writing about those passions as well.

About Me

I have a Master's degree in Interior Architecture and Design from Cal Poly Pomona and currently am an adjunct teacher at two San Diego colleges, Design Institute and Mesa College. At these schools, I teach budding interior designers how to use SketchUp and Photoshop to create design presentations that will sell their ideas to potential clients. Knowing these two programs also help get them hired!

Experience

I have ten years experience in SketchUp and its companion program Layout, and use in my professional design projects as a primary tool. I have also been a professional writer and editor, both in the past and now, and maintain several Facebook blogs on the history of architecture and design that I love to share with new fans. Before taking up my passion for writing and blogging about architecture and design, I was a professional writer covering business and technology for almost 20 years.

Approach

I like to combine lecture, demonstration, and hands on, I learn best by watching someone do the task first, perhaps even twice. Then I like to follow them through the steps on my own. I take that approach to teaching and tutoring as well. Ian that way, I believe my students will get the most out of the time they spend with me.
