I am from Bolingbrook Illinois, and I love chemistry! I also enjoy fishing, archery, hiking, badminton, and hanging with friends. I have a younger brother and enjoy spending time with him as well when I go home from college.

About Me

I am a freshman at UMKC in the 6 year BA/MD medical program studying liberal arts and getting a minor in chemistry. I hope to one day become an orthopedic surgeon or an anesthesiologist. I have a passion for helping others, and this is why I want to be a doctor.

Experience

I have taken honors and AP chemistry, and have tutored for both for one year in high school. With a friend, I have also developed a chemistry app which predicts the products of reactions, balances them, and provides redox information regarding these reactions. With this app, chem combiner, (which is on the google play store), we won the congressional app challenge. I have also self-studied organic chemistry and have shadowed a research and development chemist. I have taken the USNCO chem exam.

Approach

When I first took chemistry in middle school, I did not like the subject at all since my teacher explained it poorly. After taking more advanced classes in high school and having better teachers, my understanding of the subject went up and I loved it. My approach is not to just explain concepts, but also why they occur. I find that with greater understanding comes greater appreciation.
