General Chemistry is more abstract than other science subjects, and students will understand best with visual, practical instructions from a tutor. I have experience in teaching the subject since my last year of college, when I just finished taking upper-level chemistry courses for my Biology degree. After graduation, I continue to teach general chemistry, organic chemistry and SAT chemistry to many students, all of which have strengthened my foundation and perfected my teaching methods for general chemistry.

Organic Chemistry I Tutoring

Organic Chemistry is an abstract science subject in which each chapter builds up from concepts in the previous one. I took Honors Advanced Organic Chemistry in college where I received A's for both semesters, and started tutoring this subject for many of my peers from the very next year. I focus on making sure each student understands the fundamentals of organic chemistry very well before moving on to harder concepts later in the book. Once their foundation is strong, I incorporate advanced problems into the lesson plans so students are prepared for any type of question they will see on the test.

Pre Calculus Tutoring

Success in PreCalculus does not only mean getting a high score in the course, but it also means having a strong grasp of all concepts to prepare one for Calculus. I make sure students understand each concept well before moving on to the next. As they become familiar with fundamental concepts, I start to introduce my students to more advanced problems, which prepares them to approach any type of question on their exams with confidence.

Trigonometry Tutoring

Trigonometry consists of much more than just SOH-CAH-TOA. I make sure my students understand all about the unit circle and are comfortable with going back and forth between radiant and degree modes. My students will also get lots of practice with sine and cosine graphs as well as the laws of sine and cosine - the more advanced problem types.

Algebra Tutoring

In geometry, it's crucial to understand the formulas and rules, and it is of equal importance to know what to do with those rules, as well as all the details and measurements given in the question. I first help my students remember all formulas and be able to recall any of them in a few seconds. Then, I start to incorporate more challenging problems into the lessons so they can practice using the right information to draw conclusions or plug into appropriate formulas. My students will be well prepared for any type of geometry problem on their tests after completing these practice problems.

Preparing for the SAT Math is not only about getting a good grasp of the fundamental math skills and concepts, but it is also about knowing the most efficient strategies to use on this section. Each person has a different starting point with their math level in school, but every one of them will benefit from applying these strategies on their math section - the strategies proven effective by many of my previous students. Everyone will achieve a much higher SAT math score regardless of what math level they were at when they first started preparing for this test.

ACT Math Tutoring

Aside from the fundamental math concepts, I also incorporate essential test-taking strategies into my lessons. My students are guaranteed for success using the same strategies that have helped many others score close to perfect on the ACT math section. They will enter the test with confidence and achieve a much higher ACT math score regardless of what math level they were at when they first started preparing for this test.

ACT Science Tutoring

The ACT science section is all about strategies. Even if the student has taken no science course in school, he or she can achieve perfect score for this section if taught the right strategies. My students will be introduced to all strategies and tips proven most efficient by others who have taken the exam, and get a wide variety of practice questions to prepare them for any type of passage they'll see on the ACT science section.

Conversational Vietnamese Tutoring

I was born in a Vietnamese household where I've been speaking the language ever since I learned how to talk. Vietnamese is my mother language, which I still use to communicate with my family on a daily basis. The lessons with my students will consist mostly of Vietnamese conversations, whether it is of very basic or more advanced Vietnamese level. This has been proven to be the most effective approach to learning any new language - to practice it as much as possible, any time and anywhere.

The ISEE, just like any other standardized test, is not just about knowledge. It's also about strategies. No matter what level the student is at when he or she first starts the preparation process, my student will be able to achieve a big improvement in score when they apply the right strategies.
