Fun Facts

One thing everyone knows about me is that I love animals, especially dogs. I have two adopted dogs and I'm hoping to get another. I also love designing magazines and newspapers and I'm learning to design and program websites. I was on my high school for three years writing and designing. Funny enough, my skills in English are what made me realize my love and passion for graphic design.

About Me

I am a first year student at San Francisco State. I have to apply for my major next year, but if all goes well I will be majoring in Visual Communications Design. After graduating (before if possible!) I hope to work for a magazine like Elle or Surfer, designing spreads or photo shoots. I also wouldn't mind working for an advertising firm if the opportunity arose. My main goal is to have my work known around the world and once I'm established it'd be awesome to be able to give back to the community as well.

As a member of CSF (and a former member and president of CJSF) I'm a firm believer in helping others and giving back, which is why I decided to start tutoring. I've tutored elementary aged kids in math and English for over two years and I've recently started helping high school seniors with English and specifically with writing their personal statements for college applications. My passing both AP Literature and AP Language with 4's made me feel fortunate that English really clicks for me, I want the opportunity to help those who don't get it as easily.

As someone who once struggled in high school math, I realize doing work for a class you don't understand can make you feel like you're under water. By sitting with a student and watching them work, you can often tell what they're missing. I think this is the best process. Only after watching a student work for a short time, or looking at their work, will I assess their needs. And I firmly believe giving a student answers without explaining them or without their being an understanding only hinders the student going forward.
