Fun Facts

One passion people quickly learn about me is that I LOVE travel! I travel 2-3 times in a year.
There are two cities keep me going back to (already visited more than 6 times... ) Tokyo and Honolulu!My reason to always go back to Tokyo is definitely their culture, a city full of Art and History! Honolulu is my No.1 winter vacation spot, beautiful beaches and vibe. They are my two favorite cities.

I like music and dance. One of my bucket lists is... I want to be aerial silks dancer one day!

About Me

你好! 我來自台灣.Hello, I'm Ellica. I was born in Taiwan, came to San Francisco at age 19 to study art and design. I worked as an art curator assistant, wed designer and later became financial advisor at age 29. In Financial industry, I got a chance to teach Mandarin to a French professional working adult and began my teaching career. I moved to Washington DC this summer and very excited to meet my students in this beautiful city!

Experience

I come from a Mandarin speaking country-Taiwan so I'm perfectly capable to be your Mandarin teacher :) I also speak Japanese. (JLPT N4 level)
I was teaching Mandarin to foreign professional working adults in Taiwan for many years. Specifically, both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. Sorry I don't speak Cantonese!

In any cross-cultural communication, there is always a potential for cultural-induced language conflicts. In order to achieve successful communication, one must be aware of the potential conflicts that may occur due to cultural differences. I believe the teaching of culture should become an integral part of foreign language instruction.
