Fun Facts

I'd say one fact that makes me fun, so to speak, is that I enjoy traveling. If you know how to use Google Maps, then it's exhilarating to arrive into a city that you've never visited, or in my case, imagined.

I like to fly drones, read book reviews rather than the books themselves, and the whole concept of exercise fascinates me. If I had to pick any of these hobbies, then I guess I would choose flying drones. Aerial views provide an amazing perspective if done correctly.

About Me

I studied Southeast Asian politics, society, culture, and history as a graduate student. When I was an undergraduate, I studied the behavioral/social sciences, particularly sociology in its Southeast Asian context. In particular, my interests were in the effects of globalization and development on mainland Southeast Asia. However, in the beginning, I decided I wanted to do something else, and so now here I am.

I'll continue working in education because that's where I'm most competent.

Experience

For nearly eight years, I have been working off and on as an English teacher in mainland Southeast Asia, particularly Thailand. I have experience in:

-individualized, class, and group instruction
-curriculum assessment and planning
-highly knowledgeable generalist
-teaching children and adults with developmental disabilities

I also have been using online platforms to teach and tutor with great success.

Approach

My approach to learning is learner-based. The learner, depending on the learner's needs, guides the selection of the course material selected for use. Of course, this material is age and level appropriate. The reason I run my classes this way is quite simple: people enjoy learning when what they're learning is mixed in with content that they chose. It enables the learner to take responsibility for their learning outcomes, and it also enables them to feel involved in the learning process.
