Fun Facts
I'm from Memphis, Tennessee and the only girl out of four children. In my free time I like to hangout with my friends, go on hiking trips, and collect vinyl records. I am active in my sorority and love volunteering with our philanthropy events. I also have a passion for community service and want to make it part of my career in law one day!
About Me
I am a junior Political Science major at Texas Christian University. When I graduate I plan on moving to California and pursuing a law degree. After law school, I would like to work in the public sector either for a legal aid service or refugee law.
In high school, I volunteered as a tutor weekly for three years. We worked with an elementary school located in inner city Memphis where we tutored boys and girls from 1st-6th grade. During my senior year I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to lead this program through my high school with one of my friends, which was an extremely rewarding experience. I learned a great amount about the factors that go into helping these young students. In college, I worked as a 3 times a week tutor at a charter school for middle school boys, so I feel that I can handle anything in the tutoring field.
I've always been really dedicated to my schoolwork and I hope to instill this passion in the kids I tutor. I like to play studying games, for example, when teaching vocabulary I like to make it fun and rewarding for kids to learn the words they need to know. I also really like study aids and helping kids learn how they can be more effective in studying with these tools. I think finding the balance between work and play when it comes to tutoring is crucial in helping students learn and retain information.
