Fun Facts

I was a cheerleader in high school, and I have learned motivational skills through leadership within my squad. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, and I love my city. I have a ten year old sister who is homeschooled. I like to write poetry and short stories in my spare time.

About Me

I am a second year student at St.Francis College. My overall GPA is 3.8. I am part of the honors program in my college. My major is in English and my minor is in History. I am the Vice-President of the theater club in my college, which I also act in productions. I am undecided about which direction I plan to go to further my education. I either plan to attend law school to become a lawyer or continue and gain a PhD in English to become a tenured professor.

My sister is in fifth grade and I am one of her learning coaches. She attends K-12, which is an online home school. After her online lesson I review, teach , create lesson plans, administer exams and submit her grades. My sister is an "A" student. I have also tutored girls in high school who were on my cheerleading team. These were the girls who were in jeopardy of academic probation. I have lead study groups for fellow classmates to assist with midterm and final examinations. I have also helped my several younger cousins prepare for their Regent exams in English and History. Although, I have never been formally paid as a brooklyn">tutor, I believe that I have helped and inspired many students in all different age ranges.

My brooklyn">tutoring approach is simple, yet complex. I like to brooklyn">tutor by understanding the way my student learns. For example, if my student is a visual learner, then I will create diagrams, charts, graphs, etc., in order to teach the most effectively. I also try to instill skills in which my student can learn more ways to learn other than their strongest learning style. This will allow the student to become a more versatile learner. My goal is to help the students to not only remember the material but to truly understand, and in many cases apply it to life. My favorite question is when a student asks "Why do I need to learn this?" I often reply by explaining how each subject builds on top of the other. For example, in order to understand literature, you must understand the history behind it.
