Fun Facts

I give free singing concerts in the shower that can probably be heard all the way in Canada :p I love the sound of voice; whether it is through vocal cords or through words, I like getting my heart heard. When you don't catch me singing, you will find me writing the song of my heart, or reading someone else's. I love curling up into a corner with a good book and delving into someone else's life. I also enjoy a nice stroll in a park with a refreshing breeze running through my hair; I love nature.

About Me

I am a freshman Chancellor's Scholar at Texas Christian University. I am majoring in Biology (on the Pre-Med track) and am double-minoring in Chemistry and Sociology. I hope to go on to Med School and become a physician upon its completion. I am not sure what kind of doctor I want to be, but I hope to work with kids because children are adorable and make my heart happy.

Experience

Last year (during 12th grade), I was a private tutor for high school students (grades 9-11) in math (geometry, algebra 1&2) and science (chemistry & biology). I tutored about 2-4 times a week for 1-2 hours each time. I also volunteered during my high school years several times to tutor elementary and middle school students with low-income backgrounds. As an older sibling, my brother and sister are my long-term students. I want to continue impacting & helping others, and want to give back to TCU!

Approach

Working with a variety of people has taught me one thing: every person is different. Because of this, people have different learning styles, and what works for one may not work for another. Because of this, I like teaching things in ways students can understand. For example, one of my students did not like algebra at all, but he loved sports, so I taught the concept in the context of basketball, and it worked. I also believe in teaching concepts, for a deep understanding can solve any problem.

I taught Algebra 2 mathematics in high school, and my student ended up with a huge average improvement over the year. I am skilled at teaching and making students understand by teaching in a way they can ingest the concept.
