Fun Facts
My favorite part of studying languages is learning the finer details after having spent the initial grammar and vocabulary grunt work. For example, the French don't say "bring home the bacon" as we do in America, but they do say "put butter in the spinach" (mettre du beurre dans les épinards). My favorite phrase in French is "l'ésprit de l'éscalier" which refers to thinking of a clever or witty remark after the right moment to say it has passed.

About Me
I am a 4th year Linguistics major at UCLA. I hope to go to France to complete a Masters Degree in Education and eventually pursue a PhD in Second Language Education. Bilingualism and Education are my passions; you'll notice my face light up whenever I start talking about it. I have studied French as well as Basque, and I have just started to study Dutch here at UCLA.
During the year I lived in France, I worked part time as an English tutor to French students. I know as well as anyone that language learning is not always straightforward and easy. Being able to help someone with things I once had to learn was such a rewarding and exciting experience for me. I love the moment when a concept seems to "click" and the student really makes it his own.
My approach as a tutor is to be as fine-tuned to the student as I possibly can. Being a tutor for me isn't about having an ego trip or finishing my agenda by a certain time. I hope to provide a tutoring experience that will always keep the student on top of his game by being flexible to his specific learning style, challenges, as well as strengths.
