About Me
I am currently a Senior at the miami">University of Miami in Florida. My overall GPA is 3.659, and my GPA for my major (Kinesiology) is 3.792. After college I am attending Occupational Therapy school at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. I will be getting my Master's in Occupational Therapy and hope to work towards my doctorate eventually. At the miami">University of Miami I have been nominated for the President's Honor Roll twice for receiving a 4.0 GPA in two consecutive semesters.
When I was in high school I gained my first miami">tutoring experience with elementary age children. I was involved in a program called Ohio Reads, where I was paired with a young child and helped them with their reading-comprehension/florida/miami">reading comprehension skills. As a college student, I have been a two year biology miami">tutor. I have a group of 4 or 5 students I meet with on a weekly basis to help them with the understanding of concepts they discussed in class. The students are expected to come prepared with questions to the sessions and a packet of information is provided for the miami">tutors to discuss with the students.
My approach to miami">tutoring is very interactive, as I like the children to participate and contribute as much as possible during their miami">tutoring sessions. For the younger children (such as elementary age), I follow the approach of creating fun games and activities in order to help the children become interested in what they are learning. For the older children, I would usually have them try out problems on their own and I would help guide them if they were having trouble. I believe that it is very important to develop a positive relationship with the student so they learn to become comfortable enough to ask questions if they are confused on certain topics.
