Fun Facts

I am very passionate about sports in general. My favorite sports are baseball and football to both watch and play casually when I have the opportunity. I am the oldest of two children, but I am part of a large family with my mother being one of twelve children, which means always having a crowded family get-together during the holidays. A guilty pleasure of mine has to be game shows because I like to test my general knowledge of trivia in several subjects.

About Me

I am currently a Junior at California State University, Fresno. I am pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and plan to continue on to a graduate degree after my undergraduate studies. I hope to get certified as an engineer after my studies in order to gain a job in this field of study.

I was a member of CSF (California Scholarship Federation) for four years in high school. As a member, I would go to the local schools to fresno">tutor students. The experience allowed me to develop a variety of fresno">tutoring methods that I found to work for students and those that did not. I have also had some informal fresno">tutoring experience by being one of the people in my extended family that any other family member would go to for help with homework or general studies. I am eager to apply my knowledge gained through my academic studies and fresno">tutoring experience as a member of Frog fresno">Tutoring so I can help students academically to the best of my ability.

I have found that the method that provides the most positive learning experience for the student occurs when there is a level of understanding by the teacher/fresno">tutor. If the student feels that they are an equal, I have found they are more receptive to the person teaching them and therefore the learning process. The idea of the teacher/fresno">tutor as an authority figure is still there but not in a way that the teacher/fresno">tutor portrays themselves as "better" than the student which could result in a lack of, if any, willingness to learn.
