Fun Facts
I am a lover of anything outdoors. During the summer, I go to the beach and hike frequently. I would rather visit a state park and enjoy the wildlife than vacation at a resort. This love of nature and the desire to understand and protect it is what drove me to graduate in the biology field.
About Me
I graduated from Angelo State University with my undergraduate degree in biology/chemistry in 2013. From there, I graduated with a Masters in Science in 2015, with research focus on pollination ecology. Throughout my graduate studies, I was employed by the university as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for freshman biology courses. After graduating with my masters, I was subsequently employed by the university as an adjunct professor in biology. My ultimate goal is to continue teaching and tutoring.
Experience
During my second year as a graduate student, I was a Teaching Assistant (TA) for introductory biology courses. I was in charge of lecturing a total of approx. 145 students, administering quizzes and tests, documenting grades, and holding office hours for personal tutor sessions. Once I graduated, I continued to teach introductory biology as an adjunct professor.
Approach
During my teaching career, I worked at a large university with classrooms of 100+. In classrooms that size, it is vitally important that you take the extra time out of class to give 1 on 1 time with students who have questions on the material. One thing that is important while tutoring is you never want to simply give answers. It's more important to guide the student through the process, so that they can do it themselves and become empowered.
