Fun Facts
My greatest passion and hobby is music. If I am at home or in the car, I am playing some music. I recently learned to DJ, and recording mixes is something I take pride in. I was home-schooled for eight years with my brother as a child, so I developed the ability to learn new things by myself and be independent. I love to help people learn new things and try to be a role model whenever I can.
About Me
I am a Psychology major at the University of Michigan-- Dearborn. I plan to graduate with my Bachelor's degree in the spring of 2015. After that, I may pursue a Master's degree in Psychology. As a career, I would love to help assess and treat mentally ill people in a hospital or therapy setting.
As an older sibling, I have a lifetime of experience passing on knowledge and helping my younger brother. When I was a young teen, I taught piano to children of family friends for several years but had to stop because of academic obligations. Today, I live with several foreign students who are learning English. I love to help them by teaching them new words and phrases, and looking over their written papers.
Being home-schooled by a parent with a full-time job can often be frustrating and it often made me feel like there was nobody to help me understand problems. When I went to public schools, I was behind in Algebra and had to take a remedial class along with the regular. My teachers were very understanding and took the time to explain a problem well and answer every question. Having a patient teacher who can think of different ways to convey material is the reason I loved algebra by the end of the year. I strive to be very patient and always start from the simplest material building slowly in complexity, while always letting the learner actually do work instead of just watching.
