Fun Facts

For almost 8 years, I lived in the city of New Orleans. It quickly became my absolute favorite city in the country. Consequently, Mardi Gras is one of my favorite holidays. I enjoy traveling, trying new restaurants and reading.

About Me

I am 2nd-year PhD Student in Lifelong Learning (Adult Education) at the University of Georgia. Prior to that, I completed both my Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction from Xavier University of Louisiana. I love learning and consistently look for ways to grow my own knowledge base.

Experience

My experience in education started during my undergraduate studies, where I served as Professional Student Tutor in the Math Resource Center. During this time, I was able to tutor students in college-level mathematics courses. Following graduation, I began to teach high school mathematics (Geometry, Algebra 1 & Algebra 2) and GED Mathematics at a local community college. I have also conducted private tutoring for the last 6 years. All in all, I love to help students master the language of math.

Approach

As a teacher, it became clear, almost instantly, that relationships were essential to students and their learning. They thrived off feeling that someone understood them beyond the content and that they could trust someone. This has been the key to my success as a teacher and tutor, building relationships. Once those relationships are built, it then becomes easier to instruct and assist with particular content. My goal is to make content more relatable, ultimately aiding students in learning.
