Fun Facts
I was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico where I developed a love for the outdoors and all things related to the nature. From an early age, I was interested in math and science. I remember going to science camp at the natural history museum during my summer breaks. I was lucky to have amazing teachers who encouraged me to pursue my interests!
About Me
I am a graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in Human Biology. I hope to continue my education by pursuing a Masters in Social Work. Eventually, I would like to address educational inequity through public policy.
Experience
While pursuing my undergraduate degree, I held multiple tutoring positions. I began as a Calculus tutor for the Academic Achievement and Access Center. This led me to a position with the Kansas Algebra Program as a Teaching Assistant. I have led several class discussions and worked as a tutor and grader for the program over the course of six semesters. I am also a certified tutor in mathematics by the College Reading and Learning Association.
Approach
I model my teaching style according to the student. Everyone has their own learning styles and preferences. By focusing on what works best for each individual, I am able to address their challenges on a more personal basis. My goal is always to help students understand new concepts by explaining them in ways that appeal to their way of learning.
