Fun Facts
I raced from 5 years old through to high school and traveled across country with my dad and sister for national events a few times a year. Since college my main hobbies have been rock-climbing, slack-lining, gaming, and MtG. I love music to the point where just listening and chilling for hours on end can be some of the most fun I have when I'm in the mood.
About Me
I am a Junior Physics Major at Rhodes College with around a 3.0 GPA from the classes I've been credited for so far. In High School, I held a 3.9+ non-cumulative GPA all 4 years and was a member of both the Math and Science Honors Societies. Right now, my post-grad plans are not set in stone, but I've always enjoyed helping/entertaining people while teaching them new things so I hope whatever future long-term job I have involves instructing in some way.
Experience
I was a tutor in High School my Senior year for lower level math and sciences. In college I was a Teacher's Assistant for Intro Physics labs for my Junior and Sophomore years. I also went on multiple outreach events with the Society of Physics Students to local lower/middle schools to do presentations and show demos that taught the fundamentals of physics in cool ways like fire tornadoes or potato cannons.
Approach
I always had a knack for math, but as classes got harder it was not enough to carry me by itself. Without my teachers methods of breaking down the steps while still allowing students individual freedom to try different methods, I doubt I would have done as well as I did in school. I want to teach students the fundamentals they need to better understand the subject, but not force a specific method on them. If they feel a method confuses them, I want to help them find the one that works for them.
