Fun Facts
Born in Puerto Rico, and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas since I was 4, I have always found it interesting how cultures differ from one another in so many ways. I believe this is what kick-started my love for traveling! So far, Madrid, Spain and Lisbon, Portugal have been my favorite! I loved the lifestyle and history behind both cities and enjoyed every second I stayed there. Next on my list is Costa Rica, which I can hopefully visit next year.
About Me
I am a recent college graduate, from The University of Texas at Austin, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations with an Art Concentration. In addition, I am also in the process of getting my alternative teaching degree to be an elementary school teacher with an ESL (English as a Second Language) certification. Ultimately, my goal in life is to make a difference in whatever career path I take, and be happy!
Through my certification classes, I have learned a lot about child development, and different methods to use in each age category to help the child understand concepts. I have a passion for working with children, and am extremely patient and understanding when it comes to their needs. I have over 8 years experience babysitting and have also worked with children in an classroom setting teaching art. Lastly, I also have experience working with children who have Attention Deficit Disorder and Autism as well.
My approach to teaching students is to find the teaching method that works best for them, and to work from there. I know when I was younger, I benefited from visual interpretations and comparisons. However, other children I have worked with have been very methodical or need repetition to understand concepts. Finding the child's learning style and finding creative ways to incorporate concepts in their learning style is key.
