Fun Facts

Working with kids is a passion of mine. I have worked as a summer camp counselor in the past and I plan on making a career out of working with kids when I become a music teacher. Music is another thing I am very passionate about. I love singing and playing the piano. Also, a little-known fact about me: I was my high school's mascot! Being the mascot gave me opportunities to interact with young kids in a way I never had before and I loved every minute of it.

About Me

I am a junior Music Education Major at Trinity University. I have been on the Dean's List for four consecutive semesters with a 3.8 GPA. I am involved with many different music groups and other student organizations. When I graduate with my Bachelor's in Music, I plan on getting my Masters of Arts in Teaching. After that, I plan on becoming a high school choir director.

Experience

As a music education major, I have taken rigorous music theory courses. Since completing the music theory sequence at my university, I have tutored current students in college-level music theory.

Approach

I believe that everybody's mind is unique and sometimes teaching has to be tailored to the individual student. As a tutor, I try to find different ways of presenting concepts that will make sense to students. Not every student learns the same way, so by exploring their learning strengths and basing lessons on those strengths, I will help them truly understand their subject.

Music Theory Tutoring

As a Music Major, I am constantly surrounded by music. I have taken two levels of Music Theory, Keyboard Application, and Aural Skills. My theory classes have been very in depth and I have a very solid understanding of music theory and how the history surrounding music has morphed theory. When I graduate, I will be teaching music theory to my students, so I have been taught theory in a way that I can teach it to my future students.

Voice (Music) Tutoring

I am a Music Education major with a choral focus, meaning I will direct high school choirs and ensembles when I become a teacher. During that age, students' voices are developing, and I am being taught how to guide that development into a strong, healthy voice with good vocal technique.
