Fun Facts
One of my favorite things to do in my free time is cook! I love watching the Food Network and going to cooking classes whenever I have a chance. I have an older sister who lives in Texas, and I recently moved from the suburbs to Chicago.
About Me
I am a fourth year teacher at a middle school in Glendale Heights, IL. I taught two years in 8th grade and two years in 6th grade. I have a graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Olivet Nazarene University. I graduated Magna Cum Laude and with Honors from Illinois State University in 2017, with my undergrad degree in middle level education.
Experience
Throughout college, I had over 200 hours in the classroom working with kids. Now as a fourth year middle school teacher, I have grown my experience much more. I have worked with kids of varying levels and varying abilities. I also have experience working with students with learning and behavior disabilities. In addition to teaching, I have prior experience tutoring a 7th grade student for a bit over two years.
Approach
I use my knowledge and research from college and teaching and apply that to each student individually. I have many resources to bring as a tutor and many different approaches for what meets the students' needs best.

Curriculum and Instruction
MEdEnglish Tutoring
I took over 24 hours (8 classes) of English classes in college. I am currently a second year 8th grade English teacher. I also have been tutoring a 7th grade student in literacy skills for over a year.
History Tutoring
I took over 30 hours (10 classes) of History classes in college. I am also a second year 8th grade History teacher.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I work with my students on organizational skills in order for them to achieve their homework on their own time. I also dedicate my time to support students before school and during lunch on their homework. I will take the skills and transfer that to my tutoring students as well.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I am in my second year of teaching 8th grade Reading. I can take the resources and level my tutoring students to see where they are reading (For example, a 7th grade student might only be reading at a 4th grade level). I will then support them to move up and succeed at the level they need to be at.
Study Skills Tutoring
I focus with my students in school on how to successfully study and how to space out the material. I will take these skills and transfer them to my tutoring students as well.
Writing Tutoring
I am in my second year of teaching 8th grade English, where we have writing units as well. I can use the resources and use them as a supplemental material for my tutoring students.
