About Me
I have been tutoring since I was in high school and now I am a graduate student. I hope to become a professor someday. I always take my job as a tutor very personally and feel the success and failures of my students. I never want to lead my students astray. If I do not know an answer to a question I let student know up front and I try to provide resources to find those answers.
Experience
I have worked as a tutor for multiple organizations over the last several years. I have worked for student support services and the TRIO program at Texas Christian University specializing in working with first generation college students in various subjects. Currently I work as a certified tutor at Texas Christian University through the Religion, History, Sociology, and Criminal Justice departments and for Academic Athletic Services tutoring for various courses. I have experience tutoring students with a variety of different learning needs.
Approach
I take a hybrid approach to tutoring. My primary goal is to do my best in facilitating the student's learning and comprehension of material. My approach to achieving this goal is to combine teaching of material, with understanding concepts behind material, and finally asking the student to critically evaluate the material. Tutoring becomes a learning experience for both me and the student. I also like to assess each students individual needs, strengths and weaknesses and adapt the sessions accordingly. If possible I like to use combinations of visual, auditory, written learning styles in my sessions.
