Fun Facts

Some of the best programs that UT offers are its intramural sports, which I fully take advantage of. Flag football games are my favorite part of the semester, hands down (even though my team is NOT the best). I am also a member of the Master of Professional Accounting Council and Kappa Sigma Fraternity, which are great groups that have helped me to have fun and meet plenty of new people.

About Me

I am a third year accounting major at the University of Texas, in a 5-year program to earn my Masters in Professional Accounting. I have a 4.0 GPA and have earned University Honors 3 years in a row. At the end of my 5th year, I plan to become a Certified Public Accountant.

During the summer of last year, I worked as an SAT math austin">tutor at an SAT prep course at Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas. The students in the program were mostly between 7th and 10th grade. Every day I would pull out 2-4 students who performed lower on the math portion of their initial assessment test to give them a more personal austin">tutoring experience, as opposed to the routine classroom setting. This gave me the chance to answer a lot of questions and find the specific issues that students were having with their approach to problems.

For any efficient austin">tutoring session, I think it is most important to follow the lead of the student before anything else. I prefer to listen to students working through their problems so I can understand their train of thought, and guide them along in the process if necessary. Whenever possible, I like to go through multiple ways to do a problem, or at least look at problems in more than one way, to try and find the method that students can understand easiest. Most of all, I try to follow the student's pace of work, doing my best not to spend too much times on subjects they have a solid grasp on, but also providing more expertise on subjects the student has more trouble with.
