Fun Facts

I was born in Massachusetts and then moved to Kentucky when I was nine years old, only to move back to Massachusetts last summer. I've wanted to be a writer as long as I can remember, and was even making picture books before I could write. I've played soccer most of my life, and was also a Girl Scout and earned my Gold Award. I love reading, watching movies, and hanging out with my friends.

About Me

I'm a freshman at washington-university">George washington-university">Washington University. I had a 3.73 GPA last semester and am planning on majoring in English and Creative Writing. At Lafayette High School, I was enrolled in the magnet program, the School of Creative and Performing Arts, as a Creative Writing major. I was also a staff member for the school’s award-winning literary and art magazine, The Laurel, and was eventually a Senior Editor. My ultimate goal is to be a writer, though I plan on getting my Master's Degree in Creative Writing so I can teach.

During senior year of high school, I spent multiple Friday afternoons washington-dc">tutoring elementary school children in French. I’ve also had experience working with and teaching young Girl Scout troops in various settings. I think my patience and enthusiasm would prove to be valuable assets as a washington-dc">tutor for Frog washington-dc">Tutoring. As a strong believer in the power of education, along with a love of working with children, I'd be greatly interested in a position where I'd be helping students reach their full potential.

I think the most important aspect of washington-dc">tutoring is not to merely explain everything for a student, but to asking them questions that can lead to answers, as well as allowing them to think more deeply and get a firmer grasp of a concept. I also think it's important to use creative ways to work with their strengths; for example, using pictures if they're a visual learner. Finally, I think positive encouragement is the best way to get them to want to learn.
