Fun Facts
Even when I was quite young, I used to like biology, geography, world music and Olympic sports & games (watching, of course). It might seem like a strange combination of interests. Whats stranger is; I wanted to become a doctor or a musician or director until my junior year in High School in India. Little did I know that I was going to become an engineer based in the U.S. who dabbles with business, accounting, golfing, dancing etc. Life's full of surprises, I guess....may be not 100%;
About Me
I came to the U.S in 1988 to pursue graduate studies. In 1992, I graduated with an M.S. degree in Materials Science & Engineering (GPA = 3.63). Since graduation, I did Tutoring for almost 2 years before taking up a Materials Engineer position in a Ceramics business locally. After nearly 20 years of working as an Engineer in Industry and gaining 11 years of business experience, I've undertaken the challenge of getting a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. (As a side-light, being a U.S. Citizen, my tuition is certainly more affordable this time around....)
Honestly, I don't think I'm cut out to be a teacher or instructor by profession (never wanted to be one); yet, I have often found myself performing the roles of a tutor / mentor even from my collegiate days. After graduating from the U.O.U in 1992, I signed on to be a Tutor for Math, Sciences and Freshman-Level Engineering classes until I could find a job in the industrial sector. In addition to training newer employees at my full-time job, I still continued to tutor privately for almost another year until 1995. I have to admit that it was quite demanding but certainly enriching & satisfying to say the least.
Pretty much, all of us are familiar with the phrase or motto "life-long learning". However, not very many could claim to be familiar with life-long tutoring or mentoring (outside of the home and family circles). As they say, with knowledge and skills, the more one shares the more one gains. This has been the driving force for my wanting to share and do the best for knowledge & learning-skill seekers.
