Fun Facts

I am an enthusiastic extrovert who loves the ocean and any activities that involve the water: I am SCUBA-certified, love to surf, body board, and swim! A native to the East Coast, I am the oldest of four brothers and the father of one son and one daughter. Other hobbies that I enjoy include golf, chess, puzzles, reading, and watching movies. I am always in competition with myself to self-improve and expand my horizons. I love learning and will try anything once!

About Me

I earned my B.S., graduate with distinction (3.92 GPA) from Old Dominion University Perry Honors College. I am an invited member of both Phi Theta Kappa & Psi Chi Phi National Honor Societies. I have worked for 6 semesters in the T.A.R.D.I.S. research lab, where I have co-authored 2 published journal articles and presented my own research at the national level. I plan to continue my education in graduate school.

Experience

I have always had a passion for teaching and helping to impart wisdom to others. I am a lifelong learner and strongly believe in the philosophy that to teach is to learn. As a father, I have had a lot of experience working with young children; as a college student, I have worked as a teaching assistant for both statistics and psychology classes. I also volunteer in elementary school classrooms to help students prepare for SOLs.

Approach

As a child, I often struggled with learning difficulties associated with ADHD, such as distractability, procrastination, and concentration. I very much understand and empathize with students facing similar struggles. I really enjoy finding new ways of explaining things to help someone grasp a concept that was previously misunderstood. As a tutor, I hope to pass on some of the study and success skills that have helped me to be successful in both academic and career settings.
